Is my country eligible to apply for an e-Visa to Egypt in 2023?

Some new countries were added to the list of eligible countries for the Egypt e-Visa this year. But the list has not been finalized and issued yet.

  • Tunisia: Only if you are under the age of 14, then you can visit Egypt without a Visa.
  • Sudan and South Sudan: If you are under the age of 16, or over the age of 50, then you can visit Egypt without a Visa.
  • Libya: You can go to Egypt without a Visa if you are a woman or a resident of the Butnan district.
  • Jordan: If you hold a Jordanian passport and don't have a stamp on the back of your passport by the government of Jordan, then you can visit Egypt on this basis.
  • Morocco: If you are either 14 or under the age of 14, then you can visit Egypt without a Visa.

If you fulfill the conditions of traveling with more than five people, have reservations made at a hotel, and the travel agency's signed a letter of guarantee, and are a national of one of these countries, you are exempted from an e-Visa to visit Egypt.

The visa is only available for tourism: The immigrants visiting Egypt with the intention of tourism only can apply for the e-Visa. If the purpose of the visit is business, study, or transmitted to other countries, the immigrant will require to apply for a visa through the embassy. The immigrants needing to apply for the visa after reaching Egypt should apply for the visa on arrival from the entry points of the country.

Valid for stays: The visa has a validity of 30 days for staying in the country. The immigrant can enter the country and stay for no longer than 30 days through the 90 days period of validity time of the visa.

Validity of visa: The validity of the visa is 3 months or 90 days from the day of issuing the visa. After 90 days the visa will not work to enter the country. And the immigrant will need to reapply for the visa.

Entry time: The visa can be used for single entry or multiple entries. As long as the visa is valid (90 days), the immigrant can use it to enter the country as much as needed.

Requirements for the e-visa to Egypt

Application form online:

  • The information required on the application form for the e-Visa are name, nationality, date of birth, email, mobile number and the amount to be paid for the visa.
  • Your country of nationality should be eligible for an e-Visa.
  • Your passport's expiry date should be more than six months away when you apply for an e-Visa to Egypt.
  • If you are a minor or handicapped, your guardian's information will also be needed to be provided.

Documents required for travelling to Egypt:

The immigrant will require to provide the following paper after reaching Egypt.

  • Employment status and proof of employment. The immigrant must show a bank statement and employer’s approval if they are employed. If they are self-employed then the bank statement is to be shown. In case the foreigner is a student, they will be required to show the certificate and proof of the current status of the study.
  • The passport must be valid for at least six months. There must be at least 2 blank pages left in the passport.
  • A vaccination Certificate is required for immigrants coming from countries prone to yellow fever. A covid-19 vaccination certificate is required from all immigrants. If the covid 19 vaccination is not taken by the immigrant then they must show proof that they are negatively tested for Covid-19 by showing a result of an RT-PCR test held no longer than 48 hours after the submission.
  • A hotel reservation or proof of accommodation is required for the visa.
  • Proof of attachment to the home country is to be shown as well to pose less risk to the border guards of the countries.
  • Proof of financial support. The immigrant must show that they are capable of supporting themselves while staying in the country by offering their bank accounts or other assets.
  • Proof of return to the home country. The immigrant is to show proof that they will be returning to their previous country. The immigrants can also show proof of travelling to a different country from Egypt. The proof can be the return ticket.

E-Visa Processing time

The duration required to process the e-visa and get approval from Egypt is at best 12 business days. For unavoidable delays, the immigrants are suggested to apply for the visa at least 4 weeks before the travel. The average duration is 10-12 business days.
